North Bergen NJ 5th Alm, 9201 Kennedy Blvd 09-28-13
At just before 5:30pm on September 28th 2013, North Hudson Regional Fire-Rescue Dept responded to 9201 Kennedy Blvd, a 5 story ordinary construction OMD, approximately 100' X 100' for a reported fire. Soon after arrival a 2nd alarm was requested for fire possibly running the walls into the cockloft, as companies fought an aggressive interior attack, heavy fire was found in the cockloft and rapidly spreading, a 3rd alarm was requested and not long after the 4th alarm was sounded and all members were evacuated from the building as heavy fire vented from the roof. 4 ladder pipes and 1 T/L were put into service as the fire went to 5 alarms and eventually spread throughout the cockloft and top floor. The fire was placed under control after @5 hours at 10:30pm with numerous mutual aid co's from Hudson and Bergen Counties assisting NHRFR. As the fire progressed, water supply issues arose forcing companies to establish at least 6 5" supply lines and relays including at least 2 into neighboring Fairview. 1 firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries, it is reported that up to 70 families have been displaced and the fire is not considered suspicious but is under investigation by local authorities as well as the NJ Division of Fire Safety.
