Clifton NJ 3rd Alm, 176 Mountainview Dr. 08-26-14
At just around 13:00 hours on August 26th, 2014, Clifton Fire Dept. responded to 176 Mountainview Dr. for the reported house fire, on arrival a working fire was found with heavy fire in the rear of the 2-1/2 story frame dwelling and already through the roof. A 2nd alarm was requested as companies attempted an interior attack, however fire conditions forced command to order all members out of the building. After a brief exterior attack, crews re-entered the building but were again forced out as heavy fire conditions prevailed. 2 aerial streams and several exterior handlines were put into use to eventually knock down the fire and as the heat and humidity started to take a toll on firefighters, command requested a 3rd alarm. It is reported that the home housed a pet sitting business and that several animals were killed, several firefighters were injured with non-life threatening injuries and transported to the hospital. The fire destroyed the home and took over to hours to get under control with units remaining on the scene for several hours more. Passaic, Paterson, Bloomfield and Montclair fire depts assisted at the scene.
