Paterson NJ 4th alarm, 95 & 93 4th Ave. 12-18-14

At approximately 05:20 on December 18th Paterson Fire Dept responded to a reported fire at 95 4th Ave on the corner of E. 17th St. On arrival E-5 reported a 2 story frame heavily involved with extension into exposure B, a vacant 3 story frame OMD. Companies immediately initiated an interior attack and as heavy fire extended into the cockloft of exposure B a 2nd alarm was requested. About 20 minutes into the fire, a mayday was sounded for a firefighter who became trapped on the 2nd floor due to deteriorating conditions, he was quickly removed via ground ladder with no injuries and all members were ordered out. A 3rd alarm was requested as companies went into defensive operations on the original fire building followed by a 4th alarm with 4th alarm companies to stage and provide manpower. The original fire building was destroyed and the exposure suffered heavy damage but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to any additional buildings. The fire was placed under control at 07:25 with no known injuries.
