Teaneck NJ 3rd alm, 289 Crestview Pl. 11-14-14

At around 08:45 hours on November 14, 2014, Teaneck Fire Dept responded to 289 Crestview Pl. for the reported kitchen on fire, on arrival of E-3, fire was showing from the rear 1st floor kitchen windows with heavy smoke showing from the 2nd floor and attic of the 2-1/2 story frame dwelling, E-3 stretched through the front door and started an aggressive offensive attack. Upon arrival of BC-4 a 2nd alarm was requested with mutual aid into town for cover and Hackensack as a FAST team. As conditions deteriorated additional lines were stretched into the house and an additional engine was requested from Englewood. With fire now visible at the eaves, the roof was vented which resulted in heavy fire from the vent hole. As companies continued to make an aggressive attempt to get the upper hand and as conditions continued to deteriorate a 3rd alarm was requested and command made the decision to evacuate the building and go defensive, after all co's exited and a PAR was performed an exterior attack was put into play with several handlines, 1 blitzfire, 1 deck gun and 2 ladder pipes. All visible fire was knocked down by @10:30 and companies cautiously re-entered the building for overhaul. No injuries were reported however the home suffered major damage, firefighters were hampered by a very narrow street making apparatus placement difficult, low water pressure in the area and an advanced fire on arrival. In additional to Hackensack and Englewood, co's from Bogota and Ridgefield Park also assisted at the scene. **NOTE** Teaneck L-1 was using Ridgewood's spare ladder at the time of the fire**
