At approximately 23:45 on January 23rd, 2014, North Hudson Regional Fire Rescue responded to 519 19th St on a report of a fire, on arrival heavy fire was showing on the top floor and already involving the B exposure at 517, a 2nd alarm was requested on arrival followed by a 3rd alarm a few minutes later. FF's were hampered by the heavy fire conditions, severely cold temperatures in the single digits with wind chills below zero which resulted in icing conditions all over the fire ground as well as limited access due the very narrow street, the fire took several hours to get under control with assistance from Jersey City, Bayonne and Hoboken, a mutual aid task force from Essex County relocated to cover NHRFR firehouses. No civilians were injures but several FF's suffered minor injuries, companies remained on the scene through the following day hitting hot spots and overhauling. The cause of the fire is unknown and at the height of the fire, mutual aid companies fought another working fire on New York Ave which was quickly knocked down.
