Garfield NJ 2nd Alm, 324 River Dr. 11-14-17
On November 14th, 2017, Garfield NJ Fire Dept responded to a report of a house fire at approximately 2045 hours. On arrival of the 1st in chief he reported a working fire in the attic of a 2.5 story frame and mutual aid was immediately requested to the scene, incoming companies were also advised to use caution due to reports of guns and ammo on the 2nd floor. As lines were stretched fire broke through the roof and command requested a 2nd alarm bringing additional mutual aid to the scene and for cover. Due sever colliers mansion conditions in the attic, co's had difficulty getting to the seat of the fire and although it would darken down a bit, it would continue to flare up and burn through the roof, T-4 set up their ladder pipe as a precaution in case of the need to switch to an exterior attack. Crews were eventually able to remove enough debris from the attic allowing them to get several lines in place and knock down the bulk of the fire. After extensive overhaul, the fire was placed under control at around 2215, no injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
