1. 2017 Fires

Manhattan NY 4th Alm box 1785, 148-154 Nagle Ave. 11-12-17

At just after 1000 on Sunday November 12th, 2017 Manhattan box 1785 was transmitted for a report of a fire at 150 Nagle Ave in the Inwood section. Upon arrival of L-36 at 1005 a 10-75 was transmitted for a working fire. At 1009 Battalion 13 arrived and transmitted the all hands with a request for an additional engine and truck, heavy smoke was pushing from a row of stores in the 100 x 100 ft 1 story taxpayer and fire was showing from a cleaners in the center of the row, 1 minute later BC-13 requested a 2nd alarm. As lines were stretched into the building the trucks went to the roof to ventilate and at 1017 an additional tower ladder was requested. All companies were heavily engaged when Divison 7, Deputy Chief Jonas arrived and at 1026 he requested a 3rd alarm quickly followed by the order for all members to evacuate the roof, at 1033 the order was given for all members to evacuate the building, tower ladders were set up for a defensive attack as heavy fire vented through the roof. 2 additional trucks were requested at 1051, in total 4 tower ladders several multi-versals and numerous hand lines were put in operation. The fire was placed probably will hold by Division 7 at 1150 and a 4th alarm was requested for relief. The fire was placed under control at 1244, 5 firefighters suffered minor injuries and 6 businesses were destroyed, the cause of the fire was determined to be sparks from a construction saw.
