Passaic NJ 3rd alarm, 58 Bond St, 01-07-17
On January 7th 2017 following the 1st significant snow storm of the year, Passaic Fire Dept responded to 58 Bond St for a house fire at around 21:25. Upon arrival co's reported a working fire in an unoccupied 2.5 story frame dwelling. Heavy fire was discovered in the basement extending into the 1st floor and a 2nd alarm was requested. At around the 20 minute mark, co's reported still having heavy fire in the basement and fire now burning through the floor on the 1st floor, command ordered the evacuation of the building and requested a 3rd alarm. With wind chill factors in the single digits, T-1 placed their elevated stream into operation into the attic as additional companies opened up the exterior walls exposing fire. After knocking down all visible fire, co's re-entered the building and extinguished numerous hot spots. The fire was placed under control in about 2 hours and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
