Paterson NJ 2nd alarm, 402 E. 37th St. 02-01-17
At around 14:30 hours on February 1st, 2017, Paterson Fire Dispatch transmitted a box for a possible building fire at 402 E. 37th St. As units arrived they reported heavy smoke showing from a large 2.5 story frame and transmitted the working fire. Upon arrival of Battalion 1, he reported heavy fire in the rear and through the roof. As lines were stretched into the building, interior crews reported fire on all floors and a 2nd alarm was requested by Deputy 3. Several members of L-1 were forced to bail out the 1st floor windows on the B side as conditions rapidly deteriorated, 2 were transported to the hospital with burns and a broken collarbone, at this point all members were evacuated from the building and the attack was switched to defensive. After the use of 1 tower ladder, 1 deck gun and several hand lines, the main body of fire was knocked down, at 15:50 all outside streams were shut down and companies re-entered the building to hit hot spots and complete extinguishment.
