Paterson NJ 2nd alarm, 462 10th Ave. 04-17-17
On April 17th, 2017 at just around 15:40, Paterson Fire Dispatch transmitted the box for 462 10th Ave, reporting a possible building fire, while co's were responding dispatch advised the battalion chief that it sounded like they had a fire due to numerous calls being received. Upon arrival of Battalion 2, he reported fire through the roof of a large 3 story frame mixed use building and transmitted a 2nd alarm due to the size of the structure. At 15:50 command reported heavy fire on the top floor in several apts and in the cockloft using all hands. With the B exposure threatened, E-5 used their deck gun for several minutes to knock down the heavy fire which allowed co's on the interior to move in and knock down remaining visible fire. The roof was opened and the cockloft was found to be clear with no further extension and the fire was placed under control at 16:30. Note, as co's were still operating and some starting to take up another working fire occurred on the south side of the city and was fought by mostly mutual aid co's.
