Paterson NJ W/F 175 17th Ave. 04-24-17
Paterson Firefighter again found themselves arriving to heavy fire conditions in the early hours of April 24th, 2017. Just before 0100 fire dispatch transmitted the box for a possible fire in the area of E. 25 St & Park Ave, arriving units out of the Madison Ave firehouse found a large vacant 2.5 story frame on the corner of 17th Ave & E. 25th St with the 2nd floor fully involved. E-1 established a water supply and immediately put their deck gun into operation knocking down heavy fire and protecting the D exposure. With the heavy fire knocked down, several hand lines were stretched to the 2nd floor and attic as L-3 vented the roof and searches were conducted. The fire did extend into the attic and required extensive overhaul to get to pockets of fire which kept flaring up. All searches were negative and at 01:45 DC-4 Chief Fleming called the fire PWH and under control at 02:15.
