Maywood NJ W/F 155 Lenox Ave. 09-30-18
At just after 0800 on September 30th 2018, Maywood police headquarters received calls of power lines down and arcing in front of 155 Lenox Ave. The Maywood Fire Dept was dispatched and the utility co was requested to respond. On arrival Chief Chris Tuttle reported high tension power lines down and arcing with 2 cars and a home in close proximity and also requested that the utility co. expedite. As co's arrived one of the autos ignited and became heavily involved, the firefighters were able to from a safe distance knock down the heavy fire with a handline which protected the other auto and the home. Once the power was confirmed cut, crews completed overhaul and extinguishment of the auto and also checked the home for any dangers, none was found. The fire was placed under control and co's cleared the scene before 10:30. 1 engine from Rochelle Pk and 1 ladder from Hackensack assisted at the scene and additional mutual aid provided station coverage.
