Paterson NJ 2nd alarm, 112 E. Holsman St. 11-18-18
Paterson NJ firefighters had to deal with a dead hydrant and an exposure problem when they responded to a house fire at 112 E. Holsman St in the early hours of November 18th, 2018. At just before 01:00 co's in the 3rd battalion were dispatched for a possible building fire, on arrival heavy fire was showing on the delta side of the 2-1/2 story frame impinging on the exposure and the 1st hydrant was found to be inoperable. An aggressive interior attack with several 1-3/4" hand lines quickly had the main body of fire knocked down, however the fire was in the walls and extended into the attic. Due to structural instability an attempt to vent the roof was abandoned and a 2-1/2" line was used to quickly knock down the fire in the attic. At 01:45 Deputy 1 reported all visible fire knocked down with extensive overhaul. No injuries were reported and the cause is believed to be electrical but is under investigation. 2 dogs were rescued from the building.
