Ridgefield Park NJ 2nd alarm, 300 Industrial Ave. 2-03-18

At just after 21:30 on February 3rd, 2017, Ridgefield Park NJ police received a burglar alarm for the Star Candle Co. 300 Industrial Ave. While patrol cars were enroute the alarm co advised a fire alarm signal also being received and the fire dept was dispatched. On arrival a smoke condition was located in the large building and a working fire was found in the loading dock area, command requested a 2nd alarm. Some responding co's were initially delayed due to a train blocking the railroad crossing the would normally be used to respond. Mutual aid co's where requested on the 2nd alarm from Bogota, Teaneck, Hackensack and Little Ferry. The main body of fire was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes and all visible fire was knocked down by 22:10 however extensive overhaul was needed to reach pockets of deep seated fire. A DPW bucket loader was eventually requested to the scene to assist with overhaul. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
