Ridgefield Pk NJ Fatal 3rd alarm, 110 Brinkerhoff St, 2-07-18
Ridgefield Park NJ firefighters had their hands full when they arrived to a fully involved house fire on February 7th, 2018. At just around 00:40 hours a 911 call was received from the sole occupant of the home at 110 Brinkerhoff St reporting a fire. First arriving police officers attempted to gain entry but were unable to due to heavy smoke and fire. As fire co's arrived, a 2nd alarm was requested, hand lines were stretched into the building but firefighters were quickly forced out as the building became well involved. With the occupant unaccounted for and heavy fire conditions, command requested a 3rd alarm. Numerous outside hand lines, 1 ladder pipe and 2 blitz guns were put into operation and command reported all visible fire knocked down at 02:45. 1 firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital and after co's were able to re-enter the building, the body of the occupant was located. The cause of the fire is under investigation however it has been reported that the owner lived off the grid and relied on wood burning stoves, butane heaters, generators and solar panels.
