Wood-Ridge NJ 2nd alarm, 140 Park Pl East, 05-18-19
On the evening of May 17th 2019, Hasbrouck Hts NJ Fire Dept which was providing coverage for the Wood-Ridge Fire Dept was dispatched at @21:30 for a reported working fire at 140 Park Pl East. While as companies were calling in service, the Moonachie Chief advised a well involved 1 story auto body shop and recommended a 2nd alarm which was requested. Due to the heavy volume of fire already through the roof, co's did not enter the building and set up for an exterior attack. 1 tower ladder was put into operation along with numerous hand lines as several propane tanks exploded and sent large pieces of metal flying through the air. The main body of fire was knocked down in about 1 hour and the fire was placed under control at approximately 23:00. Co's remained on the scene through out the night and into the next day when a demolition crew was on scene taking what remained of the building down and the cause was investigated. Several cars and other vehicles were also destroyed but the firefighters were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to any other buildings and no injuries were reported.
