Fair Lawn NJ 3rd alarm, 8-35 Oak St. 01-08-20
At just around 17:00 on January 8th, 2020 Fair Lawn Fire Dept responded for multiple calls of a house fire at 8-35 Oak St. On arrival co's encountered a heavy fire condition on the 1st floor rear of the 2 story cape cod style private dwelling. The home was located on a narrow semi dead end street which made apparatus placement tough. 2 lines were stretched to the rear of the building while additional lines went through the front door. A 2nd alarm was requested shortly after arrival by the chief and as conditions deteriorated due to a wind driven fire, command requested a 3rd alarm. All companies were briefly withdrawn from the building as heavy fire lit up on the 2nd floor and attic space on the D side of the building. The fire was placed under control in about an hour with no reported injuries, the home was reported to be unoccupied having just been sold and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
