Hackensack NJ 3rd alm, 44 Elizabeth St. 10-11-20
Shortly after 12:30 on Sunday October 11th 2020, Hackensack Fire Dept started receiving multiple calls for a smoke condition and fire in the area of Elizabeth St & Liberty St. While enroute E-1 reported a heavy smoke condition in the area. On arrival of Deputy 4 (acting as DC1) he reported a working fire in a large 1 story warehouse and transmitted a 2nd alarm. An interior attack commenced with 2.5" hand lines but as conditions rapidly deteriorated and a dead hydrant command ordered all members out of the building. As conditions improved, an interior attack was attempted again but conditions rapidly started to deteriorate forcing all members out of the building once again and a 3rd alarm requested. 2 ladder pipes, numerous large handling and ground monitors were put into operation and the fire was knocked down a little over an hour after dispatch. After extensive overhaul the fire was placed under control at 14:50. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
