Ridgefield Park NJ 3rd alm, 47 Summit St. 05-31-20
Ridgefield Park NJ firefighters were hampered by hoarding conditions while fighting a house fire at 47 Summit St. on May 31st, 2020. The lone occupant called 911 just around 08:30 when he discovered smoke filling his home. The occupant was attempting to remove his 2 cats from the home as heavy black smoke filled the home until he was removed by the 1st arriving police sgt. An interior attack was attempted through the rear door but crews reported debris falling on them and heavy fire quickly blew out the front windows and door forcing command to withdraw the members. The fire went to 3 alarms bringing several mutual aid co's to the scene and additional mutual aid providing station coverage. The fire spread through out the home heavily damaging it, making it inhabitable and took approximately 90 minutes to be placed under control. No injuries were reported and the fire is being investigated by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
