Englewood NJ 2nd alarm, 15 West Hamilton Ave. 09-08-21
A house that had been damaged in flooding by the remnants of Hurricane Ida was destroyed in a noon time fire in Englewood NJ on September 8th 2021. Firefighters were dispatched around noon after the Englewood ECC started receiving multiple calls for a house fire at 15 W. Hamilton Ave. On arrival of tour commander Captain Mike Johnston, he reported heavy fire through out the unoccupied 2.5 story frame dwelling with exposure problems and immediately requested a 2nd alarm which brought mutual aid to the scene from Teaneck, Hackensack and Tenafly. 1 deck gun and several 2-1/2" hand lines were placed into operation quickly knocking down the main body of fire however due to the structural integrity of the building companies remained in a defensive posture with several hand lines, 2 ladder pipes and the deck gun continuing to operate. 1 firefighter is reported to have suffered minor injuries and the fire was placed under control in less than 2 hours although companies remained on the scene for several more.
