Jersey City NJ 2nd alarm, 27 County Rd. 03-12-21
Just before noon on March 12th 2021 Jersey City Fire transmitted the box for a reported fire in the area of Tonnele Ave and County Rd. Units were advised of getting numerous calls and while enroute heavy smoke was visible in the area. On arrival co's found a working fire in a junk yard involving a large pile of scrap metal and junk cars. Several explosions were heard as lines were put into place. Due to water supply issues a 2nd alarm was requested. 4 aerial streams and numerous 2-1/2" hand lines were put into service and the fire was under control in approximately 90 minutes. At least 1 civilian was injured and transported by EMS. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the same scrap yard was the scene of another working fire several months in the past.
