Paterson NJ 2nd alarm, 628 Market St. 12-23-21

At just around 22:00 hours on December 23rd 2021, Paterson Fire Dispatch started receiving multiple calls for a building fire in the area of 19th Ave and E. 23rd St. On arrival of Battalion 1, BC Woods, he reported heavy fire through out a large 2-1/2 story long vacant frame funeral home at 628 Market St. A 2nd alarm was quickly transmitted due to exposure problems. Two aerial streams, 4 deck guns and several 2-1/2" exterior hand lines operated for about an hour to knock down all visible fire however units remained on the scene through out the night until heavy equipment could be utilized to fully extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
