Paterson NJ 3rd alarm, 49 William St, 04-25-21

At just around 00:30 on April 25th 2021, Both Paterson Police and Fire Dispatch received numerous calls for a reported building fire in the area of 12th Ave and E.23rd St. Patrol units arrived and confirmed a working fire and began assisting residents from the fire building as well as the exposures. Battalion 2 arrived and reported a fully involved frame dwelling with extension into the B exposure, a 3 story frame multiple dwelling and requested a 2nd alarm. On arrival of Deputy 2, Chief Calamita, he concurred with Battalion 2's report and reported heavy fire in the attic of the B exposure and several additional buildings threatened and requested a 3rd alarm. The fire building was located at 49 William St, which was a narrow street making apparatus placement difficult, L-2 was instructed to set up on E. 22nd St.
With multiple hand lines and 2 elevated streams in operation the main body of fire was knocked down within 45 mins allowing crews to re-enter the B exposure, 47 William St. and begin overhaul. The main fire building was a 1.5 frame dwelling and the entire roof collapsed along with sections of the exterior walls. 2 other buildings sustained exterior damage due to radiant heat. The fire was placed probably will hold at around 02:15 although companies remained on the scene until morning. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the Paterson Fire Dept Arson unit along with the Passaic Cnty prosecutors office.
