Rutherford NJ 2nd alarm, 211 W. Newell Ave. 09-23-22

Shortly before 12:30 on September 23rd 2022 Rutherford NJ E-4 was dispatched to W. Newell Ave. fore a reported transformer fire. On arrival the company found an issue with a transformer on a pole and moments later were informed by the occupant at 211 W. Newell Ave. of smoke in the basement. The dispatcher was advised to upgrade the alarm to a structure fire. The crew of E-4 entered the basement and reported a working fire, on arrival the chief reported heavy smoke showing and requested a 2nd alarm. Fire was discovered running the walls and ceilings on all levels of the home and a crew in the rear reported members being shocked when coming in contact with the siding, command requested Public Service be notified again and told to expedite. A 3rd alarm was requested for cover and the fire took about an hour to be placed under control. No injuries were reported and the fire is being investigated by the Rutherford Fire Prevention Bureau.
