Paterson NJ 2nd alarm+, 405 15th Ave. 03-06-23

Just after 23:00 on March 6th 2023, Paterson Fire Dispatch transmitted a box for reports of a building fire in the area of 15th Ave and E. 28th St. On arrival companies reported 405 15th Ave., a large 3 story frame with a working fire on the 2nd floor rear porch. All companies went to work stretching several hose lines into the building while the trucks ventilated and performed primary searches. With heavy fire showing on the 2nd and 3rd floors, command requested a 2nd alarm and as conditions deteriorated soon pulled all members out of the building. 2 aerial streams, 2 deck guns and numerous 2-1/2" handlines were set up as heavy fire vented through the roof and worked its way towards the front of the building. L-2 was special called to the scene and set up on 15th Ave but operations were limited due to high voltage power lines in front of the building. Just after 02:00 command reported all visible fire knocked down and some co's were starting to pick up although a fire watch was maintained through out the night. No injuries were reported and the Red Cross assisted with relocating occupants. Mutual aid companies covered the city with the remaining available Paterson engine company until the fire was under control.
