Cliffside Pk NJ 3rd alarm, 40 Oakdene Ave. 04-21-15
On April 21st at just after 2100 hours Cliffside Park Fire Dept responded to 40 Oakdene Ave. for a house fire, on arrival heavy fire was showing from the 1st floor windows on the D side of the large 3-1/2 story home with a woman trapped on the 2nd floor. 2 Cliffside Park police officers along with several arriving firefighters used a ladder to rescue the woman as the fire continued to spread, she was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. A 2nd alarm was requesting bringing additional companies to the scene as the fire spread to the 2nd, 3rd floors and the attic. Companies made an agressive interior attack but the fire spreading in the walls and floors of the home and eventually command made the decision to pull out and go to a defensive attack as companies were reporting that the floors felt soft and heavy fire was venting out the roof in the rear. A 3rd alarm was requested as 2 ladder pipes, 1 ground monitor and several outside streams were put into operation eventually darkening down the fire. The fire was finally placed under control at 2315 hours, 2 firefighters suffered minor injuries and companies remained on the scene for several more hours overhauling and hitting hot spots, the cause of the fire is under investigation. Cliffside Park received assistance from Fairview, Ridgefield, Edgewater, Leonia, Palisades Park, Fort Lee and Hackensack fire Depts.
