East Orange NJ W/F 116 Hollywood Ave. 01-10-15

At just around 19:45 hours on January 10th, 2015 East Orange NJ FD was dispatched to 116 Hollywood Ave for a reported working house fire by EOPD on the scene with reports of people trapped. On arrival companies found heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor and attic of the occupied 2-1/2 story frame dwelling. Several occupants were removed, at least one with burns during the primary search, within 15 minutes and with companies not making an progress command ordered all companies out of the building and set up for defensive operations. An additional ladder company was special called as firefighters placed one ladder pipe, one tele-squirt and numerous outside streams in service, a collapse zone was set up due to portions of the roof and at least one chimney collapsing. After the heavy fire was knocked down, all exterior streams were shut down and companies re-entered the building for overhaul and to hit the numerous hot spots that remained. No injuries were reported to FF's as the fire was fought with temperatures in the teens, the fire was declared under control at just around 22:30.
