Rutherford NJ 3rd alarm, 19 Park Ave. 01-14-15
At around 03:00 on January 14th, 2015, Rutherford Fire Dept responded to an automatic fire alarm, on arrival a working fire was discovered in the 2 story ordinary building housing a cafe on the 1st floor and offices above. Companies forced entry and started an interior attack however the fire had gained to much headway and with conditions rapidly deteriorating all members were ordered out of the building and a defensive attack put into place to control the fire and keep it out of the attached exposures on both sides. With heavy fire on both floors in the rear, the fire made its way into the cockloft and broke through the roof which eventually collapsed. The fire went to 3 alarms with numerous mutual aid companies assisting Rutherford firefighters and even with temperatures in the low teens, no injuries were reported, the fire was held to the building of origin and placed under control just after 05:00.
