Lodi NJ suffered severe flooding when the Saddle River crested it's banks following Hurricane Irene. Despite early warnings to evacuate the flood prone area, some residents of the apartment complex at 329 Main St. chose to stay. Only after the flood waters continued to rise and losing power did some decide to leave making it necessary for members of the Lodi FD to rescue them. Unbelievably some still opted to stay even though flood waters could still rise another 5 feet.

  • Elderly woman opted to stay in her apt despite having no electricity and rising flood waters and even found it more important to feed the birds than allow FF's to safely remove her.
